Obagi Medical Products was founded by a dermatologist in the early 1990's by the name of Zein Obagi. Obagi has contributed to the development of skin care products for the treatment of uneven skin color, photodamage, as well as in refinement of mid-level chemical peel techniques such as the Obagi blue peel. Obagi's approach to therapeutic skin care involves a multi-step system that allows for a selection of therapeutic intensities to suit each particular patient and skin condition(s). Obagi skin care products also allow for adjustment of treatment intensity in response to the patients treatment and that of indicated tolerance.

There are two main product lines offered by Obagi. The first, Obagi Elastiderm, focuses on eliminating wrinkles and other signs of aging around the eyes. As you age, the proteins in the skin around your eyes (periorbital skin) that keep the skin tight and wrinkle-free begin to deteriorate, resulting in unsightly wrinkles. This special formulation of special minerals and proteins restores the diminishing Elastin and Collagen in the periorbital skin, restoring tightness and "snap" and eliminating wrinkles. The Elastiderm treatment comes in a Daytime Eye Gel and an Eye Cream for night.

The other treatment offered is the Obagi Nu Derm product line. It is a well-known fact that specific factors play a role in the decrease of cellular turnover, which is the process by which older cells on the skin's surface are replaced by newer cells every 5 weeks or so. These factors include UUV rays from the sun, stress, pollution, and natural aging, to name a few. The Obagi Nu Derm skin care products work on a cellular level to protect skin and reduce signs of aging and damaged skin, such as wrinkles, brown spots and blemishes, freckles, and roughness. The Obagi Nu Derm Physical UV Block is an excellent way to keep your skin guarded against the sun's harmful UV rays without drying or further damaging the skin.
