By removing the top layers of dry, damaged, and dead skin cells, through a safe process called 'microdermabrasion', your overall appearance can be dramatically improved. As explained below, microdermabrasion thoroughly exfoliates your skin without drying it or leaving chemical residues. Following the microdermabrasion treatment, the smoother layer of newly exposed skin radiates a more youthful glow than the damaged top layer that was removed. Although several microdermabrasion treatments are recommended to receive optimal benefits, noticeable improvements can be seen after just one visit.

Facial imperfections that you might have considered to be unchangable can actually be corrected or improved through the application of the microdermabrasion process. Everything from sun damaged skin to age spots and irregular pigmentation can be improved through microdermabrasion. Even superficial scars from acne and childhood chicken pox can be reduced and sometimes eliminated by applying a series of microdermabrasion treatments to the affected areas. Microdermabrasion can also help you achieve a more youthful appearance by making fine lines and wrinkles disappear or become much less visible.

After reviewing the microdermabrasion Q&A section, below, we invite you to call us for a consultation. What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is the much talked about particle peel or microdermabrasion treatment. A fine stream of tiny aluminum oxide crystals gently abrades and exfoliates the skin, removing superficial layers. At the same time, damaged skin cells and crystals are vacuumed away, revealing smoother and younger-looking new skin.

Our trained staff applies the microderm with a small hand piece that gently glides over your skin. In this way, we can target specific areas on your face, neck, chest or arms.

Is it Microdermabrasion safe?
Yes. Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that only affects the upper most layers of skin.

Is it Microdermabrasion painful?
No. Most patients feel very little discomfort.

Are there any limitations after treatment?
You can return to your normal, daily activities after treatment. Depending on the degree and depth of each treatment, your skin may have a temporary pink coloration that could last from a few hours to two or three days depending on the strength of the peel. And you can usually apply make-up the next day.

Don't masks and scrubs do the same thing?
Not completely. Unlike exfoliating masks and creams, microdermabrasion won't dry your skin and there is no chemical residue because chemicals simply are not used. Microdermabrasion is appropriate for all skin types and colors. Additionally, you will be amazed at your skin's improvement after just one treatment.

Who can benefit from Microdermabrasion ?

While everyone can benefit from microdermabrasion treatments, it  can make a significant difference for people with certain skin problems. With this method, we can lessen or remove the following conditions:

  • age spots
  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • acne and chicken pox scars
  • uneven pigmentation
  • sun damage

How long does a microdermabrasion treatment take and how many do I need?
An average treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Of course, the larger the area, the longer a treatment may take.

To receive the full benefit, I recommend most patients to receive about four to six treatments two weeks apart. After that, it is best to schedule continued treatments at three-month intervals to maintain your skin's beautiful new look.
